Nvidia has told Chinese clients it is evaluating adding production capacity for its powerful H200 AI chips after orders exceeded its current output level, according to two sources briefed on the matter.
On December 8, 2025, Reuters reported that the U.S. had approved NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA)’s exports of the H200 processor to China, subject to a 25% fee on such sales.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang appeared to have scored big on Monday when the White House approved sales of his company’s H200 chips to China. But China may prefer Chinese-made chips—or smuggled ones.
China may limit access to Nvidia H200 chips despite Trump approving exports. Beijing held emergency talks with Alibaba, ByteDance, and Tencent to gauge demand. Companies may need approval and must explain why local chips cant meet needs.
On Dec. 8, President Donald Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social that he has "informed President Xi, of China, that the United States will allow NVIDIA to ship its H200 products to approved customers in China, and other Countries, under conditions that allow for continued strong National Security."
The U.S. will allow Nvidia to export its H200 data center accelerators to “approved customers” in China, President Donald Trump announced on Monday.
The newly deployed H200 GPUs complement the B200s that AlphaTON announced deploying last week. According to the company, these units add critical computing capacity to Telegram’s decentralized AI infrastructure, supporting the network’s ability to provide secure, distributed AI services.
