WSU head coach Jimmy Rogers released a statement following the announcement that he took a head coaching job at Iowa State.
It happened with Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer, who starred for the Cougs last year before upgrading to a school that temporarily had him in the Heisman conversation. It happened with Jake Dickert, who led WSU to an 8-5 season last year before bolting for Wake Forest. And now it's the case with Rogers.
University president Elizabeth Cantwell hired Bronco Mendenhall when she was at Utah State, which could be a clue to her next move.
Heck, Jimmy Rogers was well on his way to doing all the right things, too, with a top 20 defense, a 5-1 record at Gesa Field and a season good enough to earn the Washington State football program its ninth bowl game berth in the last 10 full seasons and lay a foundation for a team that could compete for championships in the new Pac-12.
Iowa State held a press conference Monday to introduce Jimmy Rogers as its 34th head football coach. In the video above, Cyclones columnist Travis Hines offers up some instant analysis of Rogers' comments. Rogers comes to Ames from Washington State, and before that he coached at South Dakota State.
