ORLANDO — Three years ago, the Arizona Diamondbacks began discussing outfielder Daulton Varsho with the Toronto Blue Jays at the winter meetings in early December. They did not trade Varsho for catcher Gabriel Moreno and outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. until Dec. 23.
Schwarber re-signed with the Phillies for five years, $150 million. The Orioles matched that offer, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. "The Cincinnati Reds also offered Schwarber five years, but their proposal was in the $125 million range, with room to grow," Rosenthal wrote.
According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, the Reds offered five years and $125 million, which ended up $5 million per year less than the Phillies ended up signing Schwarber for (5/$125M). That's not the most interesting piece of information shard by Rosenthal, though.
