Arne Slot has explained why Mohamed Salah is not in the Liverpool squad for Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Inter Milan. The Dutchman selected 19 players for the trip to the San Siro, though the headline news was that Salah had not travelled, thus ruling him out of the game.
It was a humbling night for Liverpool in their last Champions League outing as their difficult form continued. Arne Slot’s side were left scratching their heads after falling 4-1 to Dutch side PSV — despite fighting back with a Dominik Szoboszlai goal to bring the score level after an early Ivan Perisic penalty.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher called Salah’s comments a “disgrace” during his segment on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football and their war of words has escalated with the pundit posting in response to Salah’s selfie: “Come [on] you mighty [Reds]”.
Salah has been dropped from the Liverpool squad to face Inter in the Champions League on Tuesday after going public with his frustrations following a third consecutive game on the bench, claiming his relationship with Slot is non-existent and going as far as to accuse “somebody” inside the club of wanting him out.
