Detroit and the New York Rangers also made strong pushes. Carolina and Buffalo showed interest to a lesser degree. The volume of offers explains the size of Minnesota’s winning bid.

As Canucks insider Iain MacIntyre reported, Hughes’ camp did not provide teams with assurances that an extension would be forthcoming.
