Our incoming trifecta of very cold air, small snowflakes and wind is going to create a problem on the roads later today and into Sunday.

A lake-effect snow warning and winter weather advisory are now in effect across Northeast Ohio as heavy snow, blowing snow and poor visibility threaten travel throughout the weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Lehigh, Northampton and Berks counties for 2 to 4 inches of snow from 7 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday. Expected snowfall amounts are up slightly from earlier forecasts, prompting the weather advisory, according to the weather service.

Widespread snowfall totals of 1 to 5 inches are expected across New Jersey with more than 5 inches possible in some counties.

On Saturday at 2:33 a.m. EST the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory in effect until Sunday at 1 a.m. EST for Gogebic County.

Wintry conditions sweep across the U.S., producing below-average temperatures, winter weather watches and flood watches.

Snow is just one part of the weather forecast this weekend. Bitter cold temperatures and gusty winds will also be in the mix.

Between 4 and 7 inches of snow are expected to fall in an area stretching from Little Falls, Minn. through the northern Twin Cities suburbs to Eau Claire, Wis. where a winter storm warning is in effect through Wednesday morning.
