UK Christmas weather forecast as Met Office predicts white Christmas chances
The Met Office defines an official White Christmas as occurring when at least one snowflake falls somewhere in the UK during the 24-hour period of December 25. By this definition, 2023 qualified as the UK's most recent White Christmas, with 11 per cent of weather stations recording snowfall.
The weather forecaster predicted that the snow would hit central and northern Scotland (Fort William, Fort Augustus, Cairngorms, Stirling, Perth, Aberfeldy, Achnasheen) on December 19 at 6:00 am. It could also be seen over north Wales (Conwy, Anglesey) and south Wales (Swansea, Cardiff).

Advanced weather modelling maps suggest as many as three snowstorms could hit the UK in the days before Christmas, with several inches of snow expected in some regions
For 24 hours from 6pm on Monday, outbreaks of rain will become persistent and heavy, the forecaster said, with up to 40mm of rainfall in some areas and 60-80mm of rain over Dartmoor and high ground in south Wales, which could amount to more than half the average monthly rainfall in December.

From Monday December 22 the Met Office forecasts changeable conditions across the UK. It states: ‘Low pressure systems will probably dominate, meaning showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times, for much of the UK and some hill snow in the north.
