As the calendar year edges to a close, it feels like awards season is just beginning. It's not, of course - we've already endured weeks of false starts, watching presumed front-runners fall by the wayside and unexpected discoveries emerge.

The nominees for the 2026 Golden Globes were announced Monday, and "One Battle After Another," from director Paul Thomas Anderson and star Leonardo DiCaprio, tops the list with nine nominations. "White Lotus" earned six, the most of any television series.

This week, the 2026 Golden Globe nominations were announced, celebrating the very best in TV and film over the past year. But as always, there were some notable performances that were snubbed along the way.

Awards season is in full swing, as nominations were announced for the 83rd Golden Globes. For films, “One Battle After Another,” “Sinners” and “Hamnet” were all nominated in the top categories including best picture, best actor and best screenplay.

Joe Rogan's podcast was notably absent from the Golden Globes' nominations for its new Best Podcast category despite being the most popular podcast on major streaming platforms in 2025.

Eleven exclusive 2026 Golden Globes categories will be revealed Monday at 8:30 a.m. ET, only on "CBS Mornings."

Leading up to the awards show -- dubbed "Hollywood's Party of the Year" -- celebratory kickoff events will take place for what is being called Golden Week. Events will include "Golden Eve," which will honor Sarah Jessica Parker with the 2026 Carol Burnett Award and Helen Mirren with the 2026 Cecil B. DeMille Award.
