The country is barring children under 16 from social media, with a sweeping federal law that is one of the first attempts at a nationwide regulation.

From December 10, Australia will impose a world-first social media ban on under-16s, blocking them from TikTok, Alphabet's (GOOGL.O) YouTube and Meta's (META.O) Instagram.
