Over parts of four seasons with the Red Wings, the 25-year-old Swedish winger has recorded 31 goals and 33 assists for 64 points.
The Red Wings on Monday waived Berggren. If he clears at 2 p.m. Tuesday, he can be assigned to the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins. Berggren, 25, has been a frequent healthy scratch this season, appearing in only 15 games (two goals, four assists).
