The Dow fell 0.1% after gaining ground at the open, with Caterpillar CAT and Nvidia NVDA losing the most among blue chips, down nearly 5% and almost 4%, respectively. The S&P 500 fell further, down 0.7%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite tumbled 1.1%, as AI chip maker Broadcom AVGO shoved about 5% lower.
