Red Bull Racing's longtime motorsport advisor Helmut Marko will step down from his role at the end of 2025. Red Bull confirmed the news on Tuesday, just two days after Max Verstappen missed out on a fifth consecutive title to McLaren driver Lando Norris.

Helmut Marko is leaving Red Bull after 20 years, but, characteristically, it doesn’t appear like he wants to go quietly… The 82-year-old Austrian is departing Red Bull, following Christian Horner out the door after outlasting his former colleague by just a few short months.

Marko oversaw the Red Bull driver development programme, which saw 16 drivers secure seats in Formula 1, including four-time champions Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, eight-time grand prix winner Daniel Ricciardo, four-time grand prix winner Carlos Sainz and one-time grand prix winner Pierre Gasly, among others.

Christian Horner was axed from Red Bull in July and almost overnight the dark cloud and reputation that surrounded the Formula 1 team started to lift.
