They can take points off the board for the opponent, limit possessions, and can set the defense's own offense up with good field position.

Following the Colts ' Week 14 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis is reportedly signing quarterback Phillip Rivers to the practice squad. Rivers last played in the NFL during the 2020 season for the Colts. That year, Indianapolis finished 11-6 and made the playoffs.
