The Pittsburgh region received a weekend blast of winter weather, including heavy snowfall in many places south of Pittsburgh. KDKA-TV's Chilekasi Adele reports from Washington County.

On Saturday at 4:31 p.m. an updated winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 7 p.m. until Sunday 7 a.m. for Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties.

A winter storm warning is in effect in western Pennsylvania, with three to five inches of snow expected areawide and six to 10 inches possible in the Laurel Highlands and isolated places south of Pittsburgh.

Public Works officials remind that once the snow begins to fall, it's advised drivers stay off the roads if they can and if you have to drive, be sure to give plow truck drivers plenty of space on the road.

Western Pennsylvania is gearing up for a snowy weekend. Shannon Hefferan, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Moon, said 3 to 6 inches are expected to start falling around 3 p.m. Saturday.
