The three ingredients of thunderstorm development were engraved in my memory from training and have become crucial for forecasting - which are (1) uplift, (2) moisture, and (3) a trigger. Meteorology teaches us that once the Earth's surface heats up during the course of the day from the sun, it forces the air to rise (uplift) and will continue to rise to the upper levels of the atmosphere as long as the air remains warmer. For clouds to form, there needs to be sufficient water vapour (moisture)
